Matt Neilsen – Linux Administration – Days (STL)

“Matt has a vast knowledge of Linux and how to add different things to it. Very good at helping the class with any questions. Willing to help any way he could.”

“Matt Neilsen has a deep working knowledge of the Linux system and was able to explain everything clearly and answer questions more than sufficiently. This was extremely helpful since I had no exposure to Linux prior to this course.”

“It was very well put together and easy to follow. This is the first time I have used Linux so for me to be able to work in this class for a week and really understand different aspects of using CLI to configure Linux servers.”

Steven Russell – Networking Fundamentals 1 – Days (KC)

“I thought that Steven is an excellent instructor. He definitely kept us on task.”

“Does a great job explaining things, definitely knows his stuff and make the content easy and relatable to understand”

Jeff DeMaranville – MVC2: MVC & Data Integration – Days (KC)

“Great job”

Andrew Mackay – Windows System Administration 1 – Days (KC)

“Very knowledgeable and helpful with everything. I really wish I could have had in-person but if I could not, I would want his teaching online.”

“Andrew has been great to learn from.”

“Great job teaching this week. I hadn’t ever used Active Directory before and I feel very confident about everything that we went over this week. I like that you make sure everyone is keeping up. It can be very easy for some people to lose focus while remote, posting screenshots keep things interactive.”

“Very knowledgeable and kind. Awesome instructor!”

“Instructor did an outstanding job teaching the material. He was able to answer any questions I had immediately. Job well done!”

“Andrew was great! Always lending a hand to anyone who needed help and would go above and beyond to make sure no one was left behind.”

“Able to make normally in-person classwork very well online and make sure every student is still getting the information.”

“I may be the only one, but I’m really enjoying remote classes.”

“I really liked the way the labs were set up and built off of one another”

Chuck Wieners – Project Management for the Developer – Days (KC)

“Being that we’re 100% remote, the quality of the classroom environment can suffer, but Chuck made it great. He helped us navigate every challenge with unending patience, and stayed positive, uplifting us when we were clearly feeling discouraged. I’ve really enjoyed having him as an instructor these past 2 weeks. I hope our paths cross professionally after I finish the track.”

“Chuck has a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He always takes time to answer questions, however elementary they might be, and help with technical issues.”

“I loved being with a group this week and getting to have a lot of lab time. Really solidified my knowledge of what I learned at Centriq.”

Chad Johnson – Linux Administration – Days (KC)

“Mr. Johnson did a great job of helping students walk through the course as challenging as it was he was definitely professional and had patients with all of us needing help”

“The instructor was very knowledgeable and explained how to perform the basic task we need to know.”

“Being able to share screens and see each other’s errors were extremely helpful.”

James Caldwell – Front-End Frameworks – Days (STL)

“You did an overall great job and was great seeing/hearing from you again! Keep being you!”

“Very good job dealing with the online learning situation, not much I would change, James is great”

“James is a peach. Not like, from the Giant Peach variety, although they do share the same name.”

“James always did a fantastic job teaching us. His willingness to answer questions and help us to understand concepts has been immensely helpful.”

“loved having James again”

“Things were a bit confusing with react at the beginning, I think it was just a mix of new syntax, new IDE, and virtual learning environment being different. Things really did start to click Friday though, I’m actually interested in learning more about React in the future.”

Week of April 13, 2020

Jeff DeMaranville – Full Stack Web Development Project Build Week – Days (KC)

“Nice guy. 9/9”

“Jeff was able to help with all of the problems I had in class and as far as I could tell everyone else too. He was a great resource for when you are at a dead end and you’re banging your head against a wall. He could usually come in and say hmm let’s try this. no? how about this? no? ok, this. and that was really useful in the final project week.”

“Jeff was very helpful whenever I came across a problem. He led me down the right path where I could sometimes figure it out myself.”

James Caldwell – Front-End Frameworks – Days (KC)

“Well-paced and documented lessons. If students fell behind in notes or work, always caught them up and re-explained the process to ensure nobody lost out on any information.”

“I like that for the most part, we spend a good amount of time doing labs in class. That helps just in case we have questions.”

Frank Pflumm – Security & Systems Administration – Days (STL)

“I loved the fact he was a no BS professor, he was respectful but got right to the point. And always made sure everyone understood before moving on.”

“He made the online classroom easy to understand and adjust to.”

“I wouldn’t change it.”

“I would not change anything”

“The oral presentations we did were difficult but necessary. The instructor created a comfortable environment for us.”

Matt Neilsen – ITPRO Project Week 1 – Days (STL)

“Very good at keeping the flow and incorporating real-world examples including helping with real-world situations pertaining to jobs in the IT field.”

“Helped us with the project, eased my mind on how stressful it is. Do not like public speaking but keeping me at ease is nice.”

“My run-through of the course has introduced me to so many different aspects of the IT field and has allowed me to build skills not only relating to Technology itself but finding a job and having a good presentation of my image when looking for employment.”

Jenna Beckett – MVC3: Advanced MVC – Days (VU)

“love having Jenna as an instructor, very patient with us when we have errors and sets a good pace for learning”

“Great class, very good pace and helpful whenever someone has issues”

“I like how Jenna says why she’s doing things. and lots of “remember this is…” for something we’ve learned previously. It’s a good way to strengthen those connections between everything”

“great notes as we code along for reference later”

Chuck Wieners – Project Week 1 – Build Week – Days (STL)

“Chuck was amazing, very good at letting me figure out my problems on my own, giving the right amount of helpful tips. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher during this difficult week.”

“Super helpful, but still encouraged us to figure things out on our own. Kept us on track to be finished with our projects on time. Couldn’t have asked for more.”

“Chuck did a fantastic job this week. His supportive feedback was always encouraging and the time he took to help and explain things to us without giving away the answer completely was extremely helpful.”

“Chuck is a truly amazing instructor. He’s extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter, and he presents it very clearly. In this first week of our final project, I found it very helpful that he would give us very specific examples from our previous work in answer to questions. For instance, rather than just giving out the code, he would tell a student which controller to review from a previous project. He also reminded us to be conscious that every project has a deadline, so if a student was unable to resolve the problem within about 30 minutes of being given the reference, Chuck would take the student into a breakout session and guide them through the solution. For me, that’s the absolute best way to learn and to reinforce learning. Coding advances just like technology, so when you don’t have the answer immediately, the next best thing you can know is what resources will help. I think it’s also important to mention that Chuck is very personable and easy-going. He takes everything in stride and just gets the job done. I’ve really enjoyed having him for an instructor.”

Jeff Overhaug – Security+ – Evenings (KC)

“Jeff is the backbone of Centriq, he is what makes this school great!”
