Featured Developer Student for January 2020
I grew up in the Kansas City area. I joined the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician working in missile defense. During that time, I deployed twice. I returned home after four years and worked in private security for nine years. I am married and have 4 children aged 15, 14, 12, and 5. I’ve always had a passion for technology and love seeing what it can do to aid humanity.
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I decided to come to Centriq because I realized after 9 years in security that it was time to do something more. I grew up watching technology grow and I want to grow and develop alongside it. After looking at several other development programs and schools I decided that Centriq would be the best fit for me.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: How can you pick just one favorite class or subject? Everything that I have learned so far has been worthwhile, challenging, and rewarding all at the same time. I know that everything has a purpose and will be used by me moving forward.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A: After Centriq I hope to find a company that is pushing boundaries and trying new things. I’ve spent a lot of years in a static and unrewarding field and look forward to continuing my education with new technologies and facing new challenges frequently.
Q: What other hobbies and interests do you have?
A: In what infinitesimally small time I have to myself, I enjoy playing video games and 3D printing things. In the summer I enjoy gardening, growing both food and plants. How far apart are the worlds of canning food and web development?
