Before Centriq, I was an Arts and Entertainment Database SuperUser for the Kansas City Star. I didn’t have a Journalism degree and there was not much chance for improvement or advancement. I took the aptitude test at Centriq after hearing about it while playing Bunco with friends. Four months later, I was laid off at my employer and after 18 years with that company, I took the offer to train as a .NET developer to find new career opportunities. At Centriq, the staff and instructors provided invaluable training that will continue to help me as I grow as a person and developer. Our JobFinder project and presentation to others was a great tool in using the new skills we had learned in a simulation of real-world situations. Now, I have a career, as opposed to a job. The possibility for professional growth and advancement is now wide open. Attending Centriq is one of the best decisions in my professional life. And as a bonus, I personally made a lot of new friends, as well!
Prior to Centriq, I was a Games Supervisor for a local casino. I was ready for a career change and was always interested in computers, so I started the Network track at Centriq. The staff is very friendly and competent from the instructors to the support staff such as Colleen, Tina, and Jessica. I found my IT job through Centriq’s job placement and Inside Track program. I have been successful in finding a job, without experience, that will lay the foundation for my IT career and future goals.
