Bio

“I am a proud father of two young children, engaged to be married, and currently live in Liberty, Missouri. I was born in Columbus, Ohio and after a brief period of time living in Los Angeles, moved to suburban Tulsa, Oklahoma, where I attended Broken Arrow High School. I then went to Drury College in Springfield, Missouri and received my Bachelor of Arts with a Psychology major and Criminology minor. After initially planning to pursue an advanced clinical psychology degree, I had a change of heart while working in a private psychiatric hospital. Ultimately, I attended Webster University where I received a Master of Arts degree in Health Services Management.”

Q&A

Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: After making the decision to pursue technical computer training, the next order of business was to select a school. With a number of local and online options, I spent a great deal of time researching each and every alternative. After quickly eliminating the online schools, my list was narrowed to Centriq and one other school in Kansas City. After speaking at length with a close friend who is employed by Cerner, Centriq ascended to the top of my list. After touring the facility and visiting with Russ, I realized that Centriq was clearly the best choice or me. From the hands-on approach to the fact that all classes were taught by actual instructors and not via teleconferencing, everything about Centriq made sense and felt right.

Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: I think that the subject matter which I have enjoyed the most thus far has been IP addressing and subnetting. This topic offered a blend of mathematics, theory and logic which I found both challenging and stimulating. It was initially quite complex and confusing, but after great instruction came clarity, and with it a great sense of achievement.

Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A:After my Centriq training is completed, I plan to immediately secure a position in the IT industry which will allow me to refine my skills and gain valuable experience. With a background in health care, an ideal scenario would obviously entail a position in this field, with my ultimate goal being to ascend the corporate ladder into an executive level IT position at a large health care based organization.”

Q: What other interests do you have?
A:As the father of two young children, Ava and Brooks, ages 2 and 11 months, respectively, the vast majority of my leisure time is spent with my family. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful family, and they are the driving force behind the hard work I am putting in while a student at Centriq. My children and my fiancé, Leeann, are the most important things in my life and help me keep my focus. When not spending time with my family, I enjoy playing acoustic guitar and fly-fishing. Annual fishing trips to Colorado and Montana highlight my lifelong passion: the pursuit of the elusive trout!
