Hear what these students have to say about their training!

A. Miller – Business Process Support Analyst (Application Developer Track) – Former Office Manager
Prior to starting my Centriq Career Track, I was an Office Manager for Farmer’s Insurance. I came to Centriq because I wanted a more rewarding career with a chance for advancement and better pay. I saw the ad in the KC Star and signed up for the Application Developer program. The best part of my Centriq experience was all of it. Having great instructors and a super great class. Learning new things every day. Continually being challenged. After graduation, I got a job as a developer at eScreen. I love my job. The people are great, and I am still learning gobs of information every day. I also really enjoy the database analysis and SQL writing. I enjoy going to work, and I am making a good wage.

C. Inman – Web Developer (Application Developer Track) – Former Tile Layer
Prior to my Centriq Career Track, I laid tile. I came to Centriq because I was tired of dealing with dead-end jobs, and I knew college wasn’t for me. Centriq had great instructors, incomparable environment, and a superb staff. I started a developer job less than a month after graduation.
Again, thanks so much for the time and effort spent with me. Centriq has many students the staff had a way of making it a personable experience and it really helped me find my calling into the programming world. I do think had I attended ITT or Devry I would not have got as much personalized attention and I wouldn’t be as comfortable doing what I’m doing. Centriq also taught me so much beyond computers with resume building, interview workshops, and how to be professional in a workplace, something so foreign to me before I attended. I will always give my best recommendation to Centriq Training for years to come.

D. Hattaway – Client Engineer (Network Administrator Track) –Former Carpenter
I was a Union Carpenter before Centriq. I looked into several programs and this was the best program with the certifications I knew I needed to get into the IT field. The best part of my experience was the friends that I made in my class, the instructors and the career support staff. It means a lot that everyone helps the way they do.  This is a great environment to be in personally and professionally. Now, I work in IT on Dell servers and deploying images for my employer.

J. Wright - .NET Developer (Application Developer Track) –Former Bank Manager
My career was 10 years as a Bank Manager. I had been thinking of making a career change for the last couple of years. After talking with the Education Consultant, I was very comfortable going forward with my new career and working with the supportive team at Centriq. The most helpful part was the instructors who made what some could see as hard subjects to teach both fun and enjoyable. All classes were very relevant and applicable to my new career. Centriq helped get my foot in the door with many companies.

N. Bylsma- Technology Support (Network Administrator Track) – Former Laborer
Before I started I was working as a general laborer for BGS Inc (a private contractor firm). I was the general handyman, painted, roofing, demolition, hang light fixtures, rip up carpet, plumbing, etc. It paid the bills, but I disliked every minute of it.
I finally decided that I had to do something...and the next day, I saw a billboard saying "Do you make $40k a year? Our graduates do!!" I signed up immediately. During my schooling, I got a job for the State of Kansas in Topeka as a mailroom clerk. I secured an interview with Kansas Children and Family Services, , and then got offered a job as a Level 1 Technology Support Technician. My last class was on a Thursday, and my job started 4 days later on Monday. Ten months after graduation, I could say "I graduated, and I make $40k a year". I have now been promoted up three positions and six pay grades. Less than a year ago I was working as a temp, sorting mail for $8 an hour. No paid holidays, benefits, or paid time off. Now I have full benefits, pay $24 a month for full health insurance, 10 paid holidays a year, 2 weeks of sick and 2 weeks of vacation time a year, and a salary of over $40k a year.....and I owe it all to Centriq!!!! Taking classes there was the best choice I have ever made!!

S. Kirkpatrick – Network Specialist (Network Administrator Track) – Convenience Store Assistant Manager
Before Centriq, I was an assistant manager at Quik Trip. I wanted to break into the IT industry. Now I work for one of the top 15 resellers of Cisco equipment in the US!

S.  White- Systems Support Technician (Network Administrator Track) – Former Dye Inspector

Before Centriq, I worked as an art/dye inspector for a metal dye manufacturer. I wanted to work in a field that I had a high interest in and where I had more growth opportunities. The most helpful and the most enjoyable part of Centriq was the hands-on training. It gave me a sense of what it was going to be like on the job. I am now working in an exciting environment where I get to experience a broad range of activities pertaining to my training.

T. Caudill – Financial Systems Analyst (Application Developer Track) -
I recommend Centriq 100%. It is because of the skills that I learned at Centriq that I was able to land my current job about 4 months ago, which gave me a 68% raise in my income. Then yesterday I accepted an offer for a new job that is going to yield me a 35% raise in pay from my current job, that's 103% raise from what I was making before I went to Centriq! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable about the material from not only a book perspective but from a practical real world point of view, which is the result of Centriq recruiting only the most experienced instructors available. The administration and job placement professionals truly have your success in mind. What I was impressed with, and what I can personally attest to, is the fact that their commitment extends beyond graduation and even beyond obtaining that first job. Their commitment is the reason I was able to get the job that I just accepted yesterday. They are for you 110%. If you put in the time, and effort to do your absolute best, I guarantee you will succeed; and this is coming from a guy who doesn't even have a High School diploma and now makes fantastic pay, with less than 1 yr of experience. I can say without hesitation that Centriq truly has changed my life!

L. Eckhoff – Application Developer II (Application Developer Track) – Former Home Renovator
I had my own historic home renovation company, but wanted a change. I looked at several different schools before deciding on Centriq.  Some of them were less expensive but were computer based and did not have any classroom training.  I decided I needed more interaction with an instructor and liked the classroom setup.  I also liked that the track was broken up into learning different aspects of .NET which built on each other.  The fact that I was able to completely change my life and start a new career direction in just four months was also a big plus.

The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and very good at interacting with adult students.  Their application of themes to real-world problems made me very confident that upon completion I could start working in the IT field and be productive from the onset.  My classmates were all 'in the same boat' as I was, which was leaving jobs that weren't going anywhere and wanting to change our lives by entering a much sought after career field. We were pushed to work together as a team and that aspect made my experience more intense but in the end really helped the learning process and promoted that sense of camaraderie.  Also the staffs at Centriq are very nice and helpful and were always willing to answer questions or assist me in any way they could.

Two weeks before graduation I got a job!  The project that I did and presented for the ASP.NET ADO.NET class really impressed my employer.  I also used all of the techniques promoted in the Career Transition Handbook for job searching, resume and cover letter creation, and interview skills and I think all of those things helped me get a job quickly.

D. Lambeth – Help Desk Technician (Network Administrator Track) –Former Mechanic
I worked as a Diesel Mechanic. I heard Centriq on the radio and I was impressed by what the ad, and the Education Consultant had to say at our meeting. In my track, I enjoyed listening to real world experiences from instructors. I now work in IT for a big employer. I was assigned to the Helpdesk Department. I assist franchise and corporate stores with IT issues from Point Of Sale network hardware problems as well as proprietary software issues within the Point Of Sale system.

D. Seals- .NET Developer (Application Developer Track) –Former Lawn Care Worker
I was in lawn care and rehab of houses. Because my college degree did not get me a job for two years and I wanted to get out of the lawn care business I looked at Centriq. I am also naturally computer savvy, so it felt like the right direction for me to move into IT. The project and homework part of the track is where I learned the most. Doing is the best way to learn. The mix between the in-class book work and the projects is what did the trick.

K.  Marsh- Information Systems Manager (Network Administrator Track) – Former Manager
Before going to Centriq, I was in management. I had a degree in computer information systems, but I lacked the certifications I needed to get the jobs I wanted. I have had an abundance of success since completing my track. I was hired as a 2nd level help desk technician. Since then, I have been promoted twice within the same organization. I am now Information Systems Manager. This position supervises all of the helpdesk staff, the Database Administrator, and the Security Analyst position.

J. Swank – ASP.NET Developer I (Application Developer Track) – Former Seasonal Worker
I spent the last couple of years picking up seasonal positions. I was starting a family and needed something with high growth potential and financial potential. At Centriq, I loved the small class sizes. Each student was able to get the attention they needed to make sure the material was understood in a real sense… not simply giving us enough to pass our tests. All the staff members from Student/Career Services to the Instructors are genuinely focused on the student’s success both while training and entering the job market. I was able to build the foundation of a strong, valuable skill set and accept a generous offer for a position within a growing and progressive local development team. It is a wonderful feeling to genuinely enjoy what I do for a living and to know that it is only the first of many open doors in the future.

K. Cline – Senior Web Developer (Developer and Web Design Tracks) -
I wanted to move from the Mainframe environment to the Web environment, be it Internet or Intranet. I chose Centriq because of the accelerated pace of the Career Track program. I earned 4 Certifications in 7 months which would have taken multiple semesters at other institutions. I can’t say enough good things about the Instructors I had at Centriq. They did an excellent job of presenting all the information of the program at the accelerated pace of the program. After completing the Career Track program and earning my Certifications, I received two job offers and cancelled two other opportunities that were progressing, as I’d accepted one of the first two offers. I’m currently a Sr. Web Developer, designing and constructing Intranet application systems and I’m enjoying it thoroughly! The Career Track program at Centriq paved the way for me to get this opportunity.

D. Smith- Desktop Support Specialist (Network Administrator Track)
Prior to Centriq, I was a Games Supervisor for a local casino. I was ready for a career change and was always interested in computers, so I started the Network track at Centriq. The staff is very friendly and competent from the instructors to the support staff such as Colleen, Tina, and Jessica. I found my IT job through Centriq’s job placement and Inside Track program. I have been successful in finding a job, without experience, that will lay the foundation for my IT career and future goals.
