Roland Braelith

Bio
“My name is Roland Braelith and I live here in the Kansas City area with my wife and daughter. I have worked in a variety of fields, mainly in Security and more recently in a factory to support my family while I went to school. In college I was a Phi Theta Kappa honors student and was on the Dean’s List and President’s List on several occasions, as well as a member of LAE (a college criminal justice association). I have always had a drive to learn as much as I can so that I can always do my best at whatever I set my mind to. Now, with the training Centriq has given to me, I am incredibly excited about my future in IT; not just for me, but for my family.”
Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to come to Centriq?
A: I came for a couple of reasons, actually. I knew that I wanted to take better care of my family and since I had always had an interest in IT, I thought that I would look into making it a career. When I first came to Centriq, it just felt right and I was extremely excited to sink my teeth into learning everything I could about my track. Now that I have been in the program I have found this to be a passion, and I love what I’m doing.
Q: What class has been your favorite so far?
A: This is a tough question! My C# training was on one hand the most challenging to wrap my head around but on the other hand one of the most exciting. Once we reached DDWA 3 and I could see a visible difference in the application through what I was doing in the code behind, it felt truly amazing and all the frustration had paid off. There’s no other feeling quite like that.
Q: What do you hope to do after Centriq?
A:I want to learn as much as I possibly can. Wherever I end up going, whatever applications/programs I end up building, I’m just excited to have the opportunity to get out there and continue to grow as a developer. But, in the end, I see myself as a member of a team, all working diligently together to create something that I can look back on and say “I was part of that.”
Q: What other interests do you have?
A:I love learning about history and other cultures and I’m also a short story writer which is something I like to do to wind down and relax. Also, I admit, I’m a bit of a PC gamer and have always loved games with a good storyline. Other than that, I love spending time with my family, which comes first and foremost before any hobby. My 2 year old daughter Lily is a handful and loves to go play in the park. And now that my wife and I are expecting our second child, I’m sure I will have more than my fair share of outdoor adventures and story time just before bed.
