Q&A
Q: What certifications do you currently hold?
A: I am an MCP, MCTS, and am awaiting my CTT+ (certified technical trainer) results. My college degree is in English, so I relate programming more to language than math. Learning the .NET suite of languages is like learning a foreign language.
Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of?
A: My accomplishments happen in the classroom for me. My last class of students all passed their 70-536 (MCP) exam on the first take! I take a lot of pride in my training and student feedback.
Q: What interests you outside the world of I.T.?
A: Outside of technology, I am an avid golfer, enjoy NASCAR on TV and live, time with my wife, Heather and the rest of my family. I am only a few hours from my private pilot’s license and enjoy time in small aircraft. I enjoy road trips and travelling in general whether it is for a week vacation or a weekend to watch race cars on a dirt track. I like all kinds of music and enjoy action movies and comedies.
Q: What can someone expect when they come to take one of your classes?
A: I try to keep a light atmosphere; I use my sense of humor to bring analogies to the class room that relate to the topic being learned. I am learner focused, and again, very concerned about my student feedback. At the end of the week, if my student can’t do the job, I haven’t done mine. I am tough but fair with my expectations, and am always willing to help with outside projects, or after class to discuss one of the day’s topics. Expect more code along and projects than lecture, because we ALL learn by doing. Lastly, expect to have some fun!
