What is an IT Career Track and how long does it take to complete?
An IT Career Track is a series of classes taken in a short amount of time compared to 'traditional' education, and is designed to prepare you to start a career in IT. Students generally graduate daytime Career Tracks in approximatley four to six months. Classes are also at night so there is often no need to quit current employment.
That seems fast to learn a technical skill. How does this differ from a 2 or 4 year college program?
Centriq I.T. Career Tracks contain as many hours of instructor led training as a full semester of college, they are just taken in an accelerated time frame. For example, a community college may offer a course only three hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At Centriq our classes generally run from 8:30 AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday.
Why does Centriq Training accelerate the schedule rather than just stretching the training out over a 2 or 4 year time frame like a college?
Most of our students are interested in obtaining training and getting back into the job market as soon as possible. That's the primary reason to accelerate the training. However, technology changes quickly. In a two or four year program, by the time you graduate, the technology you have learned is probably already outdated. The Centriq I.T. Career Tracks for are completed over a few months so you can be reasonably certain that the technology you are learning will still be in demand at the conclusion of the training program.
Is financial aid available and can I get money to live on while in school?
Absolutely! There are various financial aid options consisting of grants and student loans for those who qualify. You may be eligible for a government grant if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Active or Reserve Military
- Have a disability
- Have been laid off or displaced by your employer
Those who do not qualify for a grant, may be eligible for Career Training Loan through Sallie Mae. Benefits of the Career Training Loan are listed below:
- No Down Payment Required
- May borrow up to $6000 to live on while in school
- Low monthly payments

Who should consider attending an IT Career Track?
IT Career Tracks are designed for one of two types of individuals:
A “Career Changer” (someone who has never had a computer job before
but wishes to enter the IT market). In order to be admitted into a Centriq IT Career
Track, a Career Changer must take a free 20 minute IT Aptitude Assessment which
will be used by your admission counselor to verify proper program selection;
or
A current IT Professional who wishes to update their IT skill set. For example,
a Mainframe Programmer who wishes to get certified in one of the newer object oriented
programming languages.
